Cold Waters

Photographer Niklas and his skipper Joscha set off on an ambitious voyage: Leaving Germany, they head for Norway, sail past the Shetland and Faroe Islands, Iceland, Greenland and down the coast of North America to reach the Caribbean.

Driven forward both by the wind and their curiosity, the two clock up 10,000 nautical miles on their voyage through the northern seas, where the bitter cold creeps into their bunks and storms buffet their boat with unforgiving force. It’s a hard slog on the open seas.

But no matter where Niklas and Joscha drop anchor in this vast wilderness, they are richly rewarded. The beauty of the remote archipelagos, wild islands and majestic glaciers is theirs alone to explore.
