RWE THOR Offshore Wind Farm: First Monopile Installation

In April 2025, I had the unique opportunity to document the start of construction at the RWE THOR offshore wind farm off Thorsminde, Denmark. Traveling by Crew Transfer Vessel (CTV) from Thyborøn, I spent two days capturing the installation of the first monopile foundation.

Two drone shots reveal different perspectives: a top-down view of the massive steel monopile being lowered into the seabed, and a frontal view showing the monopile poised vertically above the water.

These images tell a story of advanced technology and a key step in Europe’s clean energy transition. Witnessing this milestone firsthand was truly remarkable.
