BLATTWERK von GEO & Krombacher

This project was commissioned by GEO Magazine and documents the reforestation and conservation work carried out by the Krombacher Brewery in the Siegerland and Sauerland regions in response to forest die-off. The series shows volunteers planting thousands of climate-resilient sessile oak saplings in winter conditions. It also explains how modern forestry aims to create resilient mixed forests with a variety of tree species to replace the damaged spruce monocultures. In addition, the project covers local environmental efforts such as restoring the Krombach stream and maintaining traditional orchard meadows. Together, the photographs tell the story of a new beginning and show the steps taken to build a stable ecosystem in the region.
