BLATTWERK von GEO & Krombacher

The project was commissioned by GEO Magazine and documents the reforestation and conservation efforts of the Krombacher Brewery in response to forest dieback in the Siegerland and Sauerland regions.

The series features brewery employees planting thousands of climate-resilient sessile oaks in wintry conditions. At the same time, it explains how modern forestry creates resilient mixed forests with diverse tree species to replace the destroyed spruce monocultures.

Furthermore, the project highlights local environmental initiatives such as the renaturation of the Krombach stream and the maintenance of traditional orchard meadows. Together, the photographs tell the story of a new beginning and illustrate the steps leading to a more stable ecosystem in the region.
