In May 2024, I set out with an international expedition team on a month-long trek across Greenland. Our route took us nearly 600 kilometers from Kangerlussuaq to Isortoq.
This research expedition, known as The Greenland Project, aimed to better understand the current changes in the Greenland ice sheet and their impact on global sea levels.
My task was to document the daily routines of our researchers and the immense physical and mental challenges they faced in this extreme environment.
The data collected – such as ground-penetrating radar profiles and snow density measurements – is used to verify satellite observations and inform future climate research. The expedition impressively demonstrated that a small team with a minimal carbon footprint can achieve excellent scientific results.
